Ahmed, couldn't agree with you more on Air India and United. The problem is that the respective governments will never let-go of these airlines, and good money (taxes!) will keep chasing bad money. Sad case.

Hey Karla,

Agreed with you on Air Canada's FFP program - probably the most profitable in the world. But I see ACE (holding company) doing now is that they're trying to squeeze all the juice out of Air Canada, so that they can make more profits off Aeroplan, which was AirCanada's baby but now is worth more than the airline itself. And this is the danger I see going forward for the airline. Multiple govt. bailouts are no good for the airline and for the morale. What say?

Hey Shashank,

I disagree with you on Air Canada - there really isn't a strong enough competitor in the local market (like kinfisher in India). While air Canada hasn't really gotten it's head around the potential of different social media platforms, they have developed a rich, interactive content portal, enroute, that has a lot of growth potential. They also have a very good frequent flyer program. I think integration and stronger branding internationally could go a long way.

For now, I can confirm two airlines which are about to rest in peace:
The first is Air India due its current bloated pattern of operation. I have commented on an article discussing the situation of Air India (http://bit.ly/Tg5Dy). The second is United Airlines. The credit goes to its lousy operational policy and to the demonstration managed by Dave Carroll (http://bit.ly/MndAp & http://bit.ly/22NURU).
Email: management@ultraconsultants.net
