[Presentation] How Airport Retail is Evolving in the Age of the Connected Traveller — TFWA Asia Pacific 2014

Earlier today, I presented at the TFWA Asia Pacific Conference 2014

My focus was the Connected Traveller and the huge opportunities that an intimately connected world provides to airport retailers — especially with reference to how today’s Connected Consumer expects deeper personalisation and relies on product recommendations from friends and acquaintances on social networks.

Apart from some key statistics on why the Connected Traveller matters and a brief exploration of some unique behavioural traits, I also shared a brief overview of existing strategies with case-studies while laying out a roadmap for the future of airport retail.

Current Strategies

  • Location-based Deals
  • Social Advocacy
  • Real-time Customer Service

Looking at the Future

  • Virtual Shopping
  • Digital Immersion
  • Beacon Technology
