It’s searing hot at the Singapore Airshow – combine 34 degree celsius temperatures with 85% humidity and you can start to imagine why my shoe soles started to melt on the tarmac.
Asia is a very hot market too, for aviation. There is sea everywhere, so you can’t really drive, unlike in the United States. Bus services within most countries are not very well developed; and rail networks only work well within countries, like in India. That means every time you need to go to another country, you’re most likely to fly.
Understandably, the region is high on the priority list for the world’s largest aircraft manufacturers. So, who’s leading?

The world’s first tweetup on an aircraft is happening in a few hours time, and it would be on the Bombardier Q400. I have managed to tour 3 out of 4 of Bombardier aircraft and I must say, they are sexy.
For those who haven’t seen them, here they are!

Much has gone as expected at the Singapore Airshow – no big new orders. Regardless, there were certainly a lot of announcements coming from all corners of the globe.
Here’s a quick summary of what happened today, and my take on them.

This is an awesome week for SimpliFlying: The Airshow social media campaign has been going very well and CEO Shashank was featured on CNBC…
Plus, SimpliFlying is announced as the world’s second best aviation blog by Reed Business Information’s head of Blogging, Adam Tinworth and Vice President Cabin Design Office at Airbus, Jonathan Norris in The Webbies 2009 – Flightglobal Aviation Web Awards.
Congrats!

The Singapore Airshow has been a blast so far. The frequency of #SIN10 tweets and a ‘dream-came-true’ tweetup on a Bombardier aircraft are showing signs of a successful campaign. All these could not have happened without your help. THANKS!
Well.. today is only the second day of the Airshow. I’m pretty sure the buzz will get louder as the Singapore Airshow reaches its climax coming this weekend.
We probably would be organizing several tweetups to satisfy the ‘geek-ness’ inside you and of course the team: Shashank, Li Guen, Sarah and me are all looking forward to meeting you in person.
