Ushering in a new era in travel marketing: SimpliFlying Tribes connects 150 of the best minds in one place

In a previous video and a subsequent post, we asked you a tantalizing question: What does SimpliFlying have in common with Seth Godin and Malcolm Gladwell? We told you how Seth Godin has argued compellingly in his book Tribes that lasting and substantive change can be best effected by a tribe: a group of people connected to each other. Giving this idea a unique twist, we thought of merging the idea of a tribe (a tribe of travel marketers in this case) with a popular idea from Gladwell’s book, The Tipping Point the idea that 150 people is what you need to make an idea spread. Interestingly, it has been observed that after you get past 150, something happens that makes it harder for an idea to spread.

At the end of the post, we promised that we’d be ushering in a new revolution in travel marketing by bringing together 150 of the best travel marketers in one virtual space. We’re pleased to inform you that the first stirrings of this revolution has begun. SimpliFlying Tribes is here!

What is Tribes?

Why is Tribes awesome, you ask? Simpliflying Tribes is an exclusive, invite-only, private online community of the world’s Top 150 travel marketers. Imagine the synergies created when 150 fantastic people from all across the industry come come together in one place!

Picture a virtual land where the best minds in the travel industry meet. Picture airline savants, airport geeks, hotel rockstars and perhaps even the car-rental maverick. How far would you have to go to see all these people in one place, talking to each other, sharing their ideas, arguing principles, creating new visions for the travel industry to move forward. Sounds too good to be true? Fear not. This is exactly what Tribes will be like!

Sneak preview

Discussions will be informative, provocative and challenging. When the best minds meet, sparks are sure to fly. Tribes members enjoy absolute exclusivity and get royal treatment (see below). By absolute exclusivity, we mean that all insights, discussions, rumours shared within Tribes stay in Tribes. Members can share (and are encouraged) to share their latest keynotes, whitepapers etc with the rest of the members of Tribes and all such materials remain private to only those who join the community. So, suppose you got the latest exclusive keynote from a conference that you were interested in going to but couldn’t, what would you do the next time such a thing happened? Yes, you’d go directly to Tribes (in other words, switch on your computer in the comfort of your home), and not go to the conference unless absolutely required!

Discussions will be led by some of the best in the travel industry themselves. We have an exciting roster of Tribes moderators who will be actively leading discussions, challenging norms and maintaing, ahem, decorum within Tribes. Here’s one of them: a person you’d be really excited to interact with in Tribes.

Stephanie Gehman is a Marketing Manager at Harrisburg International Airport. Stephanie is a self-proclaimed aviation geek, and a burgeoning social media savant.

Here’s a sneak peak at the kind of discussions happening within Tribes:

We’ll be disclosing the entire list of Tribes moderators next week so stay tuned!

Save more than you pay!

Tribes will not just be an unprecedented online community for exchange of ideas between the best of the best from all corners of the travel industry (even though I’m sure that sounds impressive on its own). Tribes members save over $8000 per year through exclusive offers available just to them. How’s that possible? The next blog post will reveal more juicy details!
