Announcing the Top 3 in #SFAwards13 Best Airline on Social Media, Best Airport on Social Media and Best Emerging Airline/ Airport

In less than three weeks from now, four winners (one from each award category) will walk away proudly with deserving affirmations of social media supremacy.

After a rigorous process of nominations, shortlisting, voting (over 37,000 votes received!) and judging, we are pleased to announce the Top 3 finalists in the following three categories of the 4th SimpliFlying Awards for Social Media Excellence. The overall winner for each category will be announced at  the official awards ceremony at the EyeforTravel Summit in Amsterdam on Oct 24, 2013, where they will also be invited to present their social media strategy and results.

Without further ado, here are the Top 3 in Best Airline, Best Airport and Best Emerging Airline/Airport category.

Top 3 for Best Emerging Airline/ Airport on Social Media

In this category of tooth-and-nail competition, two brands tied for the same position so instead of three, there are four brands ithe Top 3 position.

How the Top 3 were chosen

The finalists‘ scores were a combination of scores from our esteemed judges as well as the votes received during the voting period which was open for about 3 weeks (from which a record-breaking 37,000 votes were received!). The judges’ scores and votes counted for 50% each of the final score. Votes were counted as a percentage of the fan-base to make the vote-counting process more relevant; e.g. an airline with a small follower base that got 3000 votes received more marks than an airline with a million followers that got the same number of votes. In all cases, however, as mentioned previously, the judges had the power to override the mandate of votes.

Congratulations to all those who secured a position in the Top 3 and a huge round of applause to all the airlines, airports who participated so enthusiastically in this year’s awards! The overall winner for each category will be revealed on October 24 at the awards function, together with the results for Best Service Provider for Travel Solutions category. We look forward to seeing you on October 24!
