[Presentation] Smart travellers. Smarter Airlines. How can airlines stay ahead in the age of mobile and wearables? #ATIS2014

What will tomorrow’s travelers demand as they progress through every step of the journey, from planning to booking, and arrivals to destination? How will they want to consume the services on offer and what implications does that have for airlines and airport operators? What will the passengers be wearing?

These are some of the questions I was invited to help answer through my presentation today at the world’s largest airline IT summit – the SITA Summit in Brussels. My presentation, titled, “Smart Travelers. Smarter Airlines” showcased the story of Dwayne Stewart, the Air Canada passenger who filmed his bags being thrown 12ft through the air, and how he is not alone, but part of a much larger group of connected travelers who share everything on the move. I also questioned the future of wearables and how airlines can best leverage the technologies.

What’s clear is that as we approach a new era of air travel, the challenges of more demanding customers will require better efficiencies coupled with faster and more accurate services provided by airlines. It will be important for airlines to decide their priorities based on what their respective customers’ preferences.
