The half-year mark of 2012 is approaching and in the past six months, we have seen some great “Heroes” emerge in the various fields of customer engagement strategy, be it in marketing, PR, commerce or customer loyalty. Which Hero will wrap up the first half of 2012? Here are this month’s nominees:
Jonathan Pierce, American Airlines
American Airlines sure knows how to celebrate its 25 years of service to Asia with a bang on social media. One of the latest airlines to expand their presence on Twitter, American Airlines’ recent campaign #AAtoAsia, led by Jonathan Pierce, rode on the Pinterest wave to harness the maximum virality of image-sharing. Pictures speak a thousand words, and in this case, marrying Pinterest with its existing social media platforms Facebook and Twitter helped American Airlines amplify that effect a thousand times. Tying it all up with an enticing contest prize, American Airlines’ #AAtoAsia campaign achieved a total of 63,600 impressions on Pinterest and won a staggering 390% increase in the number of followers.
Laura Gallego Porto, Vueling
Instagram caters to a niche but very effective market due to the high level of interactivity that occurs within the photo community. Laura at Vueling Air recognises the opportunity in that. To celebrate carrying over 50 million passengers since its inception, Vueling invited Instagram photo entries of the carrier’s destination cities from its Facebook community. All the photo submissions are to be featured in a Vueling’s Air Gallery book as well as in an exhibition in the aircraft. Now which photo fanatic wouldn’t like to be featured in the world’s first mid-air photography exhibition?
Jose Calderoni, Volaris
One of Mexico’s largest carrier and still rapidly growing carrier, Volaris never takes its fans for granted. Under Jose’s lead, the carrier has been named the most Socially Devoted airline with over 3000 questions answered in 48 minutes on average. And if you recall, six months ago Volaris helped a terminally ill boy fulfil his wish by flying in his favourite wrestler to where the boy was hospitalised. It is no wonder Volaris’ fan base is growing so quickly.
Without further ado, let’s get to the voting: May the best Hero win! Voting will close in 7 days from today (i.e. 1 July 12 pm ET) so cast away!
